Welcome Guides

Welcome Guides are citizens of Hirado who have volunteered to become tourist guides and have been recruited by the Hirado Tourist Organization since 1998. The guides have been trained in various subjects such as the local history. Personal interaction with the guide is an important aspect of the tour and the Welcome Guides will show you Hirado as the locals know it. 

Reservations for a tour by an English speaking Welcome Guide can be made until two weeks in advance. The fee for a 2-hour tour is ¥1500 yen per group/tour and ¥500 for every hour after that. As the guides are volunteers, all expenses for the guide, such as entry fees or transportation costs should be paid for by the customer.
