Sakura Cherry Blossom Festival - さくらまつり
Event Explanation

The Kameoka Park is well known for its cherry blossom trees. Flower watching can be enjoyed during the day as well as in the evening, when the nearby Hirado Castle is beautifully lit up. Kagura dances are performed on April 7th, 13:30~.

Kigatsu Spring Lantern Festival - 木ヶ津千灯篭春まつり
Event Explanation This event lets you take a stroll on the temple-grounds of the Fumonji and the Fukoji temple . You can enjoy the tea ceremony or other activities whilst tasting fresh local food. This festival is best in the evening when many lanterns are lit to create a unique atmosphere for you to enjoy (ends at 21:00).

Hirado Azalea Festival - つつじまつり
Event Explanation The Hirado-Azalea is a type of Azalea with especially big flowers. The Hirado-Azaleas of Sakigata park are famous throughout Japan.

Shellfish Search! Clam-digging Tournament - あさり！どっさり！潮干狩り大会
Event Explanation A fun event for the whole family. There are lots treasures hiding in this sandy beach! There is a small participation fee for adults and children above 6.

Tabira Spring Festival - たびら春まつり
Event Explanation All kinds of local produce from Tabira town are on display and for sale, such as organic vegetables, fresh fish and processed goods. Colourful events like live performances will also take place.

Hirado Tokajin Festival - 平戸海道渡海人まつり
Event Explanation Local products are exhibited and sold. Many people come to the festival to buy these products or participate in the various events that are held such as dances, competitions and barbecues.

Open Garden Fair - 平戸お庭めぐり
Event Explanation 9 residences will open their gardens to the general public this weekend. Among them are samurai houses that have been designated as important cultural properties. Many types of flowers such as cherry blossom and Azalea's can be enjoyed in the gardens. Cafe Kumazawa is a good place to start. Map

William Adams Summit and Memorial Ceremony - 按針忌
Event Explanation This event remembers William Adams, an englishman who greatly contributed to the establishment of both the Dutch and the English Trading Post in Hirado. William Adams , who is called Miura Anjin in Japanese, worked and died in Hirado. The summit is on saturday and the service on sunday, organised by HIRA-no-kai and starting at 10am.

Nakatsura Firefly Festival - 中津良川蛍まつり
Event Explanation The local community in Nakatsura takes special care to keep the river clean so that every year many fireflies can be seen along the Nakatsura river, in the south of Hirado. A walking path along the river allows for a pleasant stroll amidst the fireflies. There will be a small event on June 1st.
